After-School Opportunities in the North End. 

The Green Street Arts Center After-School program kicked off on Monday afternoon. Classes are available for students in grades 1 -8. Green Street offers Arts classes in Movement, Visual Art, Arts & Science, Literary Arts and Media.

Students who are registered for the after-school program at Green Street can also sign up for the musical mentoring program to receive music lessons from Wesleyan University students through the musical mentoring program.

The Green Street Arts Center also offers private music lessons. 

Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater is also accepting registrations for their fall classes. Oddfellows offers theater classes for kids between the age of 2-20. Check out the classes that Oddfellows is offering. Fall classes at Oddfellows. 

Oddfellows and Art-Farm are also offering a great opportunity for students who are interested in more serious circus training. Circophony is a new youth circus company committed to providing first class training to aspiring circus artists while creating exciting new circus performances which will be available to tour to schools, clubs, fairs, events and festivals.

Young people will receive a rigorous combination of circus training, physical conditioning and rehearsal/production experience. members are expected to arrive punctually, attend all rehearsals and performances, work hard, be strong team members, and train independently outside of rehearsals to develop their skills. Check here for more information about Circophony.

Register now for the Children's Circus of Middletown

The Children's Circus of Middletown presented by Oddfellows Playhouse as part of the City of Middletown's kids Arts program, is back for its 21st season. This 5-week, half day program for 200 youngsters ages 8-14, provides training in such skills as stilting, juggling, clowning, acrobatics, unicycling, dance and visual arts, all leading up to a gigantic outdoor performance with a live circus band. A full day Advanced Circus Programs offers experienced performers, ages 12-15, the oppertunity to take their skills to a higher level. The Circus is open to all Middltown residents and non- Middletown residents on a space-available basis. The Circus is sponsered by the Middletown commision on the Arts and the Middlesex United Way.

The circus camp runs from June 29th to July 30th. The Circus show is July 31st at 5 p.m. There are limited spots available for the a.m. session (9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.) and the p.m. session (12:30 to 3:00 p.m.) the cost for the entire 5 week program is $125 for the first child, $75 for the second child, and $50 for each additional child. GENEROUS SLIDING SCALE & FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE TO FAMILIES THATQUALIFY.

Oddfellows Recession Special

Oddfellows Playhouse is currently taking registrations for Spring "Complete Actor" classes and are offering a "register a friend" special.
How does it work?
1) Register your child in one of the Complete Actor Classes (ages 6-14)
2) Tell a friend about the cool class you signed up for.
4) When your friend calls Oddfellows to register, make sure they mention your name!
3) Receive $10 off your tuition (if you have paid the full tuition already, you will receive a $10 refund)
4) Take your friend out for Ice Cream

Capitol Prep Open House

Saturday, Feb. 7th from 12-2 pm, The Capitol Prepatory Magnet School in Hartford will be hosting an open house at Oddfellows Playhouse (128 Washington St.). If you are a high school aged student or a parent, please stop by to learn more about this great school.

The Capital Preparatory Magnet High School is a year round college preparatory school with a social justice theme. Throughout its curriculum, Capital Preparatory engages students in exploring issues of equality, democracy, economic opportunity, intellectual freedoms, environmental protection and human rights.
